In the Church with an Unclean Spirit
Mark 1:21-26
Matthew writes of Jesus as a King.
Luke writes of Jesus as the Son of God.
Mark portrays Jesus as a Servant on the move. This book unfolds the dual focus of Christ’s Life of service and sacrifice.
Mark does not waste his time writing about the genealogy of Christ, for who wants to here the family line of a servant, but he goes directly into the ministry of Jesus Christ.
A man - this could have been any man in the church
Where - could have operated in any part of the ministry, usher, deacon, choir member.
He was in the church - it is possible to be in church but the church not be in you. Ex: Samuel did not yet know the Lord.
V23. He cried out - Not for deliverance, but “Let us alone” We have selective deliverance, we decide what we want to be delivered from.
V26. Demon tore him - Devil will use you out then make you look like a fool. Man was screaming and having convulsions.
We must recognize when enough is enough. Popeye the sailor man: “I done took all I can stands and I can’t stands no more."
